Thumbs That Hurt

Why do my children and all of the children that work for me only respond to one type of communication.....texting. Why do we call it texting, not even writing or composing any more? Why do they want to have an entire conversation with their thumbs when they could have just as easily picked up the phone and called their friend. On one hand I should be proud, I have raised a kid who speaks a foreign language, ur, 4, lol, ttyl and not only that, but, does it all with his thumbs. Sounds as if I am describing some spectacular circus side show, " Come One --Come All", See the astounding, the astonishing. A mere child that can type 90 works a minute using only his THUMBS!!!! $2.00, THANK YOU. No he was not born with no fingers, that is what makes him so astonishing, he chooses to use his thumbs on his own and he as been able to con an entire generation into doing the same and not only this but.... have also succeed in making people my age look at their kids every day with the same look....."Why don't you just call them? No one ever wants me to text them because I keep spelling out all of the words!, ie, laugh out loud (lol). I do this because I have to put on my reading glasses to see the keys and figure I might as be as correct as possible since I look the part of old man, I prefer the term "retro geek" I have to stop now, my thumbs are killing me.
